YOGA AND RUNNING RETREAT
Ian and I are really excited to be offering you another opportunity to experience a fantastic week at Villa Amfiario in the village of Kalamos, 40 minutes from Athens. I can't tell you how absolutely wonderful the whole experience will be. So I'm not going to try! Instead I'm inviting to you to come and join us on 10th-17th September. Villa Amfiario is a family run villa and you couldn't ask for a friendlier, lovelier and more accommodating family ever! There will be daily yoga, optional runs in the hills and on the coast. There will be time for chilling in the beautiful surrounds of the villa, swimming in the healing water of Lake Vouliagmeni, soaking up the sunshine at beautiful beaches, wine tasting with complimentary facial, and learning about some fab myths and ancient history in the Acropolis of Athens as well as the local site of Amfiario which dates to 400BC. This time we are also going to enjoy a gentle hike on the trails around Athens. Oh, and did I mention the food? Divine, glorious, lovingly cooked food by Eleni - the mama of the villa herself - all plant-based delicious goodness. The prices includes full board accommodation, 2 glasses of wine during evening meals, airport transfers (you will be picked up by one of our two dedicated drivers), entry to all the sites and plenty of coffee and snacks along the way, all yoga, all running, all trips as stated in the itinerary below, and our private 24/7 butler/guide/chauffeur who is one of the family members. The family's ethos is all about providing a truly once-in-a-lifetime retreat experience and, having hosted 2 retreats there in 2022, we can certainly vouch for this. The villa has the most stunning views of mountains, sea, gardens and loads of flowers. This is going to be a week that you will never forget.
Here is a rough itinerary to give you an idea of what to expect:
Day 1: arrival
Day 2: morning yoga, running (optional), trip to a winery with complimentary facial, and lots of chill out time of a beach
Day 3: morning yoga, running (optional), a visit to Amfiario which is an ancient archaeological site (dating to 400BC) plus more chill out time on another beach
Day 4: morning yoga, running (optional), a day in Athens
Day 5: morning yoga, running (optional), harvesting vegetables and cooking lesson, more beach time
Day 6: a day chilling and swimming in the healing water of Lake Vouliagmeni, yoga on a pier
Day 7: morning yoga, a guided gentle hike on beautiful trails near Athens
Day 8: Departure
Yoga: I'm a Yoga Alliance Professionals Senior Yoga Teacher and I've been sharing my passion for Yoga for 15 years.
My classes are challenging yet accessible, and most of all, they are fun. Life is too short to be serious and I absolutely believe that "there is nothing more prayerful than playfulness". The classes during the retreat will be adapted to suit for all levels.
Running: I'm an experienced runner, member of Matlock Athletic Club and qualified fell run leader. I have a passion for trail running and love nothing better than getting to know a new area by running the local trails and hills. I've discovered some cracking runs in and around Kalamos which I'd love to share with you. I'm also a First Aider, so you will be in safe hands!
Pricing:
Prices are inclusive of accommodation, all meals (100% plant-based) with 2 glasses of wine with evening meals (more wine available at cost price), all yoga sessions, guided runs (optional), a guided hike, all trips (including coffee and snacks along the way) to Athens, the Acropolis and museum, Lake Vouliagmeni, Amfiario, Chalkida (and its famous crazy waters), various beaches, Greek cooking and dancing lessons (not at the same time, and optional!) and airport transfers. These prices do not include your flights, any Covid testing requirements into Greece or your home country. There are 2 standard double/twins, 4 deluxe double/twins and 1 super deluxe double room. The super deluxe room has an en suite with a jacuzzi bath and shower. The other 6 rooms share 3 bathrooms and there is a dedicated cleaner who cleans the bathrooms regularly! All bathrooms (except the en suite) are fitted with a massage shower.
